Valmet is known for its reliable marine automation. We have been intensively present onboard all types of ships where our solutions play an integral role. Our target is to make the vessels greener, more efficient and more profitable, thanks to the use of advanced automation and scrubber solutions. We are now looking for a Senior Application Specialist within Marine Automation to our Norwegian office in Lier.

 

As a Senior Application Specialist your key duties lay within:

  • Lead and manage internal & external projects that resolve identified business needs within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

  • Provide the main interface and maintain a confident relationship with the customer and other participants in the project.

  • Carry the overall technical and financial responsibility of the project by leading efficiently and effectively the nominated project organization.

  • Plan and coordinate all the activities during project execution, such as engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, logistics, installation and commissioning.

 

Were seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-layered global environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience engineering background with PLC and/or automation programming.

  • Good knowledge of Cybersecurity and related requirements.

  • A technical background or equivalent experience in customer service or project coordination, preferably within the marine automation industry.

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Infor LN), CRM systems and project management tools.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).

  • An accurate, structured approach to work with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • A proactive, can-do attitude and eagerness to learn.

 

Knowledge of marine/ships electrical systems or background as ships electrician is considered as an asset.

 

This position requires some traveling at times to customer, ships or Marine floating devices. You need to be able to have English as a working language, any other additional languages are considered an asset. It is also beneficial if you are experienced in working abroad.
