Senior Software Engineer AI & Data Platforms

Location: Oslo, Norway

Start date: As soon as possible

As a Senior Software Engineer with an AI focus at Esgian, you will play a key role in helping shape and build our AI capabilities from the ground up. This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who can combine strong backend skills with practical experience applying AI to real products and who can help guide technical direction as we take our first structured steps into this space.

You will work closely with product, research, and engineering teams to identify opportunities, define architecture, and deliver production-ready AI-driven functionality across our platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Help define and shape Esgians AI technical direction, tooling choices, and implementation approach.
• Design and implement AI-driven workflows integrated with Esgians data, applications, and APIs.
• Apply modern AI techniques to support:
• Insight generation and summarization
• Anomaly detection and interpretation
• Automated analysis and decision support
• Build and maintain backend services using C# / .NET, ensuring scalable and well-structured APIs.
• Work closely with data, infrastructure, and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Contribute to infrastructure, deployment, and operational considerations for AI-enabled services.
• Share knowledge and best practices, helping raise AI and engineering maturity across the organization.

Profile

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a software engineer in data-driven environments.
• Strong experience with backend development and APIs, ideally using C# / .NET.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and analytical data workflows.
• Practical experience applying AI in production systems, including:
• Working with existing AI platforms and APIs (not building models from scratch)
• Designing AI workflows, prompts, and structured outputs
• Combining AI with structured data and business logic
• Comfortable operating in environments where tooling and architecture are still evolving.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and locations.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

• Relocation to Norway not offered.
